Kino Flo BarFly 400D
The BarFly® 400D & 200D are the next generation of thin BarFly lighting systems. The soft, cool beauty lights feature a narrow profile of 4.5″ in depth with onboard dimming ballasts, lamp switching and Universal input voltage (100VAC-240VAC). The BarFly 400D is brighter than a 1,000 Watt tungsten softlight, but draws only 2 amps, while the BarFly 200D is brighter than a 500 Watt tungsten softlight drawing only 1 amp of power. The new BarFly’s include a built-in reflector and removable gel frame, honeycomb louver and center mount. The lightweight fixtures are ideal for difficult tight shots on location or in the studio. The fixtures take 3200K and 5500K True Match® lamps that display a full range of high color rendering (CRI 95) soft light. The BarFly’s come in 1-Unit and 2-Unit (BarFly 200D only) kits. BarFly 400 System
The first thing to note about the BarFly 400 System is that it consists of three components: BarFly 400 Fixture w/ 12ft (3.6m) head extension (fig. 1), Mounting Plate (fig. 2) and Ballast (fig. 3). It was designed in this manner to allow the greatest flexibility when working on film production where the gaffer and DP are constantly being challenged to light unique locations and problem solve at a moment’s notice.
The BarFly family is most at home on location and studio sets for television and feature film production, but many in the electronic field production and ENG community have discovered it for a small, two point or three point lighting kit to complement such popular location lighting instruments as the Kino Flo Diva-Lites.
